ANNE & NOAH | SAINT PAUL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

Please excuse the extra long post, but I am so in love with Anne & Noah’s gorgeous downtown Saint Paul wedding. Not only are Anne & Noah amazing, hospitable, kind, fabulous people, but they also host a great party. I was so honored to be a part of their wedding day. I also have to give a special thanks to the team at Laura Mullen Event Design, who did an amazing job planning and executing this wedding day and, endless thanks and gratitude to my friend, Melissa Schollaert, who second shot this wedding with me. Many of the shots above were captured my Melissa and she is talented beyond words. I met Melissa at Jose Villa’s Italy Workshop, which we attended together last fall in Tuscany, Italy, and Melissa flew in from Atlanta for the weekend to shoot with me. I’ll also be shooting with her in Florida this fall and I’m so excited!

I LOVE NY!

I recently traveled to New York City to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Being the lady that I am, I won’t mention her age, but it rhymes with “dirty.” Anyway, since it was going to be a girls trip and I wouldn’t have my hubby around to carry my gear like I often do when I travel, AND inspired by fellow photographer/friend Jose, who made me travel to Florence, Italy with only one camera, I decided to live on the edge and only bring my medium format Contax 645.

I quite like the results. I’ve recently decided that New York replaces Barcelona as my favorite city in the whole entire world. I really do love NYC and I’m already plotting and planning how I can go back as soon as possible. If anyone who lives in NYC is reading this, by chance, please contact me because I have a few plans in the works and I’d love to chat.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the film results. The heat must’ve gotten to me, because a lot of my film was out of focus (perhaps I shouldn’t manual focus while wearing sunglasses), but I don’t even care… sometimes I like the look of soft film. Enjoy!

Jyll - Ahhhhh!!! Laura…these are fantastic! It looks like you had a wonderful time capturing the city that never sleeps. Wonderful work lady!

Stacy Able - ahhh gorgeous again but this time in film!! beautiful stuff Laura and looks like it was a super fun trip, too :)

Laura - Thanks everyone! The white shoes were adhered to a wall in a shoe store… a giant glob of decor/shoe art! Very cool!

@Emily & John- yes, you need to get to NYC

Emily S - Love it! I totally want to visit NY.

John Sharpe - Love these Laura, so jealous of your 645 and that you just took the one camera on your trip. I need to do somethign like that. BTW, what was with the white shoes…really liked that shot! Still haven’t been to NYC…need to get there.

geneoh - amazing. love the color!

Tiffany - Gorgeous! What is with the large pile of white shoes? Also the black flower dress(?)/romper(?) is adorable! :)

natalie - hoooooly crap I love these!!! Especially the black and white chelsea markets pics. And the one of us jumping turned out amazing!!! Let’s go back tomorrow!

Nicki - Hi Laura, love the photos! I’m a fellow Minnesotan turned Brooklynite, I’d love to hear any NYC photo plans you have, or if you need any rec’s on the city I’m happy to help. Glad you enjoyed your trip!

helgi - stunning!!!…and you know me now, so shoot me an email and make your dream come true!! XOXO

DESIREE & NOLAN | MINNEAPOLIS ENGAGEMENT

Meet Des & Nolan! We were having really bad luck with scheduling their engagement session. It seemed that every date we chose ended up being a rainy, stormy day. I guess the third time is the charm, because we finally met for their engagement session on the HOTTEST day of year. Go figure! But Des & Nolan handled it like troopers. Even their doggie, Bear, got in on the photo action, although, I felt quite bad for him with his black fur. I was a bit worried the poor guy was going to pass out. When we finally couldn’t take the heat, we snuck into the Walker for refuge and freezing cold AC. Enjoy the preview!

melissa oholendt - LOVVVVVE this couple’s style. They are gorgeous and their style is rocking. The Walker has to be one of my favorite locations for reals and I love how you used it!

Kristen Drufke - giggle-giggle. We had the same issue with a couple where we had to set up a time to meet like 6 times before we were able to make it all happen. lol. These photos were so worth it though! Love the ones in the Walker and with Bear. Great job Laura!

tasha - SO beautiful and full of life! Love it! You’d never know you were melting outside :)

Amy - aww love the walker! miss MN so much!! what a beautiful shoot!

Laura - Thanks guys!

@John- Permit?!? Uhh, no, but we asked at the front desk if we could shoot there. It was SO HOT and I was practically melting… they probably felt bad for us, so they let us use the entry!

John Sharpe - Love this session! That first horizontal shot inside…is AWESEOM! Did you get a permit to shoot at the walker or snuck in? I’ve gotten kicked out of there before.

Glenda - Awesome Laura!

jennie gaskins - love how airy their session looks!! and the dog tie is GREAT!!!

KELSY & BUTCH | SESSION AT THE FARM

I love this couple and I loved their session! We had so much fun out at my grandparent’s farm in rural Le Center, MN, and I loved the cool props that Kelsy & Butch brought along. They incorporated things they love doing together like drinking wine and Kelsy’s super fun vintage-replica bicycle. K&B are actually super awesome wedding photographers based out of Wisconsin, so we had to get some shots with their cameras too!
